Come away with me.
People often say ‘Paris is always a good idea’, while I completely agree with this sentiment, you can say the same thing about Venice.
In many ways Venice feels like an amusement park- everything looks perfect and it is full of tourists. But if you can escape the tourists and find a quiet place you can still feel romance in the air. Magic fills every corner of this city. It dances across the beautiful bridges, drifts along with the gondolas and is in the music that seems to float through the canals.
We chose to stay outside of Venice in Padua as accommodation is significantly cheaper and Padua is only 30 minutes away. A day turned out to be a good length of time to get a taste of Venice. Though I do wish we had chosen to stay a little later and see the city at night- I can only imagine how beautiful it would look!
There are many great ‘sites’ to explore in Venice, but chose not to go in search of sites, but instead to stroll through the canals, a slice of pizza in hand.
However, we did see St Mark’s Basilica, Piazza San Marco, the Grand Canal and the Santa Maria della Salute.
We had a truly delightful day. Even the rain couldn’t ruin this magical city. So mix yourself a Spritz, and enjoy my photos from Venice.
